Please join us for a related program for Patchwork: The Architecture of Jadwiga Grabowska-Hawrylak.

Three generations of architects will reflect on the place of contemporary Polish architecture in a panel discussion moderated by Karolina Czeczek of Only If. Topics will include the significance of Poland’s geographic location – between East and West – along with the shift from socialism to capitalism, and how architects draw from these two radically different traditions.

Bolesław Stelmach (1956) is a founder of Stelmach i Partnerzy, a firm that has been awarded many times in Poland and abroad.
He studied architecture and received his PhD at Cracow University of Technology and continued his post-graduate studies at the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology. Stelmach is the recipient of the Honorary Awardd from the Association of Polish Architects (SARP) and has served as the head of the National Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning since 2017.

Lukasz Wojciechowski (1978) is an architect at vroa architects and a lecturer at the Wroclaw University of Technology. Wojciechowski writes extensively on architecture and, in his spare time, makes illustrations and comics.

Aleksandra Czupkiewicz (1991) is an architect at Maćków Pracownia Projektowa, who graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Wroclaw University of Techonlogy. Czupkiewicz is the co-author of books on Stefan Müller and Jan Szpakowicz and is widely published in Polish architectural magazines, including Architektura Murator and Zawod Architekt. A designer of scenography and installations, she co-founded pawilony_pavilions with Patryk Kusz and Maria Wawer in 2018.

Maciej Hawrylak is a graduate and lecturer of the Faculty of Architecture at Wrocław University of Technology (Department of Urban Planning). In 1989-90 he lectured at the University of Mosul (Iraq). Since 1998 he has been running an independent design studio asw design studio. Winner of many architectural competitions. General Director of the Lower Silesian Festival of Architecture (DoFA).

Szymon Brzezowski is a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at Wrocław University of Technology.  Works an architect at Maćków Pracownia Projektowa Together with Juliusz Erdman, he runs the +48 design studio (founded by them and Wojciech Chrzanowski in 2005). The +48 team has won many awards and distinctions in competitions.
