Event Details

More than 70% of the New York City Housing Authority’s (NYCHA) citywide portfolio is open space. NYCHA’s recently launched Open Space Masterplan project, a first-ever assessment at this scale, is a groundbreaking planning effort to analyze NYCHA’s diverse open spaces and data on community needs to develop holistic design recommendations to support advocacy and fundraising.

For more than a year, NYCHA’s Design Department, along with consultant landscape architecture and urban design firms Nancy Owens Studio and Grain Collective, evaluated NYCHA's open spaces to develop a comprehensive reevaluation of their potential to meet the community, urban, and resiliency needs of today.

This event brings together the project team, NYCHA partners, industry experts, and open space stewards for a panel that explores NYCHA’s open space portfolio, the masterplan findings and implementation strategies, and the community impacts of such investments.

The presentation will be followed by a moderated Q&A session.
