Res Arch Now: Lunch/Learn with the 2020 Award Winners.

Six Unique Stories & Perspectives on Residential Architecture Commissions.

This program, organized by AIANY Custom Residential Architects Network and cohosted with BSA Residential Design Committee will explore the unique perspectives of six practitioners who were 2020 AIANY + BSA Residential Design Award Winners.

What is the state-of-the-art design language used in residential architecture—new construction, restoration, renovation, and preservation? How do the environmental protection, historic preservation, and land conservation regulations play into a design team’s vision? What design trends, technical innovations, and planning tools seem ideally suited to a rural region, to an urban location, to a historic property? What are the cross-overs in urban residential architecture, rural residential architecture, and historic preservation? How and when are consultants brought into the design process of residential architecture? What role do they play in determining the final outcome?

These and questions about the most current issues that are impacting residential architecture will be addressed by the leading-edge design teams from Boston and New York City, talking about projects locally, in rural outposts, and abroad. Each design team created a unique video presentation featuring one-on-one and cross-team conversations and accompanying visuals that explain their unique process and perspective on residential architecture commissions. All six projects were hailed as the best of residential architecture today by AIA New York and Boston Society of Architects, the two oldest and most established AIA chapters in the nation.

There are three sessions organized around critical topics in residential architecture with two of the winning project teams.
