50 Lessons to Learn from Frank Lloyd Wright (Rizzoli, 2021) begins with a simple question: What lessons can designers today learn from Frank Lloyd Wright? Unlike books focusing on Wright’s personal life, and equally unlike certain works that paint Wright as a mythical hero or genius, this book highlights some of the design tools Wright used to create exceptional architecture, interiors, and landscapes.

Co-authors Aaron Betsky, who served as dean of the former Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture, and writer and critic Gideon Fink Shapiro, will be joined by photographer Andrew Pielage to discuss the main ideas behind the book and its visual strategy. Each succinct “lesson" is accompanied by color photographs, original Wright drawings, newly commissioned diagrams, thoughtful analysis by the authors, and quotations gathered from Wright’s voluminous writings on architecture and design.

Speakers:
Aaron Betsky, Director of the School of Architecture + Design, Virginia Tech
Gideon Fink Shapiro, PhD, Writer and Critic
Andrew Pielage, Photographer
