This progam features a discussion of the basic how-and-whys of traditional neighborhoods, including iconic platting elements like small front yards and public spaces and the design of individual units with an eye on the block-face to achieve harmonious streetscapes. It will touch on various elements of sustainability, OSHA requirements, fire safety, wind load, and other general code matters associated with vinyl siding and trim.

Fernando Pagés Ruiz

Fernando Pagés Ruiz is a builder with 30 years of experience and an expert on how to cut costs and keep quality when building or remodeling, Pagés Ruiz is the author of two books published by the Taunton Press: “Building an Affordable House” --- and --- “Affordable Remodel.”

He has won numerous national awards including the “Green Building Single Family House of the Year” and the “Workforce Housing Award” from the National Association of Home Builders. Most recently, he has been working with New Urbanist Andrés Duany in the creation of a new generation of manufactured homes.

Pagés Ruiz is a consultant to the industry and has helped to lead the industry into the realms of New Urbanism.
