Gehl is a Danish architect and urban design consultant whose life work has centered around pedestrian and cycling-oriented urban design. Gehl and his firm’s design approach analyze the spaces that pedestrians use to maximize their safety and physical wellbeing. Gehl will discuss his influences—from the Jane Jacobs and Holly Whyte era of placemaking to the Livable Cities movement of the 21st Century—both in New York and around the world.
